Odisha CM Meets JP Nadda, Discusses Roadmap for Strengthening State’s Healthcare Infrastructure

Meeting in New Delhi focuses on future reforms, strategic investments, and BJP’s vision for improved public health services in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met BJP National President and Union Health & Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda in New Delhi to discuss the state’s evolving healthcare needs and upcoming initiatives aimed at strengthening public health delivery.

According to officials, the meeting covered a wide range of issues, including upgrading district hospitals, expanding medical education infrastructure, enhancing primary healthcare services, and improving preparedness for emerging health challenges. The interaction comes at a time when the state government is preparing a comprehensive roadmap to modernise Odisha’s health system under the BJP-led administration.

Following the meeting, CM Majhi took to social media to share his appreciation for the discussion. “His visionary guidance will continue to inspire us to serve with greater dedication and commitment,” he wrote, indicating that the dialogue had set the tone for deeper collaboration between the state and the Union health ministry.

The conversation is also seen as a strategic effort to align Odisha’s health priorities with national schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), and initiatives focused on digital health transformation. Sources said the Chief Minister highlighted Odisha’s challenges in remote and tribal regions, particularly concerning maternal health, shortage of specialists, and the need for new critical-care blocks.

Nadda, who has been closely associated with health sector reforms at the national level, is understood to have assured full cooperation for Odisha’s upcoming proposals, including plans to expand medical colleges, scale up immunisation drives, and strengthen disease surveillance systems.

The meeting holds political as well as administrative significance. As Odisha’s new BJP government prioritises improving healthcare facilities at every level—from sub-centres to medical colleges—coordination with the Union ministry is expected to accelerate project approvals and unlock additional funding.

Party leaders believe that the exchange between Majhi and Nadda will help reinforce the BJP’s commitment to delivering better health outcomes for Odisha’s residents. With several new schemes under preparation, including efforts to modernise hospitals and introduce advanced diagnostic services in underserved districts, the interaction is likely to shape the next phase of the state’s health reforms.

The Chief Minister is expected to meet other Union ministers during his visit, underscoring Odisha’s push for enhanced central support across key sectors.
