State targets Viksit Odisha 2036 vision with job creation and rapid industrial development

Bhubaneswar : The Odisha government has approved 33 industrial projects worth Rs 1.46 lakh crore, aimed at generating around 66,000 employment opportunities across the state. The announcement comes as the government marks 500 days under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, reinforcing its commitment to the vision of Viksit Odisha 2036.

Chief Minister Majhi said the approvals reflect a confident and investment-ready Odisha. “The trust shown by investors across India and the world highlights the strength of our policies, governance speed, and vision for a self-reliant and developed state,” he said.

The newly approved projects span various sectors, including IT and ESDM, aerospace and defence, textiles, food processing, tourism, green energy equipment, datacentres, speciality steel, aluminium, power and renewable energy, green hydrogen and ammonia, semiconductors, chemicals, and rare earth materials.

These projects are strategically distributed across 14 districts—Angul, Balangir, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Khordha, Puri, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh—to promote balanced regional development and inclusive industrialisation.

The state government said these initiatives will attract more domestic and global investors while supporting sustainable development and infrastructure growth.

Highlighting the state’s progress, the government said, “In the past 500 days, under the ‘Double Engine – One Vision, Double Impact’ model, Odisha held 12 Single Window and seven HLCA meetings, approving 330 projects worth Rs 7.7 lakh crore.” These approvals are projected to generate about 4.7 lakh jobs across various sectors.

During this period, 76 projects were fast-tracked, 8 were inaugurated, and investments worth Rs 2.04 lakh crore were grounded, creating around 1.63 lakh direct employment opportunities.

With these measures, the Odisha government continues to promote an industry-friendly ecosystem, enhance infrastructure, and focus on sustainable job creation. These efforts are shaping Odisha into a key contributor to India’s economic growth and a preferred destination for investments.
