Odisha Gears Up for 72nd All India Cooperative Week Celebration

Focus on promoting cooperative values and self-reliance across grassroots communities

Bhubaneswar : A preparatory meeting for the “72nd All India Cooperative Week–2025 State Level Celebration” was held at the Odisha State Agriculture Marketing Council Conference Hall. The meeting aimed to plan and coordinate the upcoming state-level celebrations, ensuring the event effectively promotes the cooperative movement and its role in strengthening rural and community-based economies.

State Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta presided over the meeting and urged all stakeholders to ensure that this year’s celebration reaches people at the grassroots level. He emphasized that the objective should be to make cooperative initiatives more people-oriented and inclusive so that the philosophy of cooperation becomes an integral part of community development across Odisha.

The All India Cooperative Week will be celebrated nationwide from November 14 to 20, 2025, with this year’s theme set as “Cooperatives as a means for a self-reliant India.” The theme highlights the critical role cooperatives play in promoting economic self-sufficiency, empowering farmers, and supporting rural industries through collective participation and shared growth.

Minister Samanta noted that Odisha has a strong legacy of cooperative movements in sectors such as agriculture, credit, marketing, and housing. He called for renewed efforts to strengthen cooperative institutions, expand membership, and enhance awareness about cooperative principles and their contributions to self-reliant economic models.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Commissioner and Secretary of the Cooperation Department, Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, President of the State Cooperative Union, Pravasini Sarangi, and senior officers from various cooperative organizations. Discussions focused on finalizing the schedule of events, awareness campaigns, and outreach programs that will be held during the celebration week.

Officials also discussed engaging cooperative societies, youth, and women’s self-help groups in the week-long activities to promote inclusivity and participation. The event is expected to feature seminars, exhibitions, and cultural programs showcasing successful cooperative initiatives and innovations from across the state.

By fostering collaboration among cooperative institutions and highlighting their achievements, the 72nd All India Cooperative Week–2025 aims to reinforce the cooperative spirit as a cornerstone of Odisha’s economic and social development.
