CM Majhi Lays foundation for projects over Rs 25000 cr

New ventures spanning steel, energy, food processing, and logistics to reshape state’s economic landscape.

Bhubaneswar : Odisha is set to witness a significant industrial leap as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will perform the groundbreaking ceremony for 27 large-scale industrial projects. The ceremony will be held at a special event at Krushi Sikhsha Sadan, OUAT, in Bhubaneswar.

According to Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, the new projects will span across 12 districts including Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Khurda, Koraput, Angul, Sundargarh, Bhadrak, Puri, Cuttack, and Sambalpur. With a combined investment of Rs 25,379.34 crore, these projects are expected to create around 51,826 employment opportunities, marking a new chapter in Odisha’s industrial development.

The minister highlighted that the initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to inclusive growth and economic transformation. “This is not just an industrial expansion; it is a milestone towards reshaping Odisha’s future and empowering its people with better livelihoods,” he said.

The projects cover diverse sectors, including steel, aluminum, chemicals, food processing, renewable energy, and logistics, ensuring that growth reaches various corners of the state. Officials noted that these industries will not only enhance Odisha’s economic output but also improve infrastructure, skill development, and ancillary business opportunities in the respective districts.

Employment generation remains a key focus of the state government. By facilitating over 50,000 direct and indirect jobs, these projects are expected to uplift local communities and reduce migration from rural areas in search of work.

Odisha has been aggressively positioning itself as one of India’s most attractive destinations for investment. Earlier this year, during the Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave-2025, the state secured 593 investment intents worth more than Rs 16.73 lakh crore across multiple sectors. Monday’s groundbreaking ceremony is seen as a tangible outcome of that investor confidence, translating commitments into on-ground realities.

Industries experts believe that this wave of industrial projects will further strengthen Odisha’s role in India’s manufacturing and resource-based economy. With its abundant mineral reserves, robust policy framework, and improving infrastructure, Odisha has consistently attracted global and domestic investors.

Beyond economic growth, the projects are also expected to bring wider social impact. Enhanced local employment, increased demand for skill-based training, and the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) around industrial hubs are likely to foster inclusive development. The government has also stressed its commitment to sustainability, ensuring that industries adopt modern, environmentally responsible technologies in their operations.

Chief Minister Majhi is expected to underline the state’s long-term vision for industrial growth during the event, reinforcing Odisha’s readiness to balance rapid economic expansion with sustainable and equitable progress.

As Odisha gears up for this landmark occasion, the groundbreaking of 27 mega projects serves as both a symbol of its rising industrial stature and a promise of greater opportunities for its people.
