Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo held a series of high-level meetings in New Delhi with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Health Minister JP Nadda, addressing matters of national importance alongside Odisha’s developmental priorities. The meetings underscored the importance of collaborative governance and the shared vision of driving India’s growth through cooperative federalism.

During his meeting with Amit Shah, Singh Deo expressed his appreciation for the Home Minister’s leadership in strengthening India’s security apparatus and governance framework. He discussed Odisha’s specific priorities, including security concerns, disaster preparedness, infrastructure growth, and developmental challenges in remote areas. Singh Deo emphasised the need for sustained central support to ensure inclusive progress in the state.

The discussion also touched upon enhancing coordination between state and central agencies in areas such as law enforcement, disaster management, and rural development. Shah assured continued support to Odisha’s initiatives, reiterating the Centre’s commitment to balanced regional growth.

In a separate engagement with Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Singh Deo presented “Mahaprasad” from Shree Jagannath Dham, a symbolic offering that reflects Odisha’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. The gesture also signified goodwill and unity in national service.

The meeting focused on strengthening India’s healthcare ecosystem, with Singh Deo raising issues related to expanding medical infrastructure in Odisha, addressing shortages in specialised healthcare services, and improving rural health outreach. He lauded Nadda’s leadership in implementing transformative health initiatives and urged greater support for the state’s healthcare projects, particularly in underserved regions.

Both meetings reflected Odisha’s proactive approach in engaging with the Union Government to align state priorities with national goals. Singh Deo emphasised that such dialogues are vital in addressing developmental disparities and in ensuring that the benefits of growth reach all sections of society.

The Deputy CM described the interactions as “constructive and forward-looking,” adding that Odisha will continue to work closely with the Centre in building a secure, healthy, and prosperous future for its people.

By blending cultural diplomacy with developmental advocacy, Singh Deo’s visit reinforced the importance of maintaining strong state-centre relations in addressing the challenges and opportunities of India’s federal structure.
