Odisha Ranks 13th in Women-led MSMEs: Minister Calls for Greater Female Participation

Gokulananda Mallik urges officials to boost women entrepreneurship in the state

Bhubaneswar: Odisha currently ranks 13th in the country in terms of the number of women-led enterprises in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector — a position that officials admit is far from encouraging. MSME Minister Gokulananda Mallik emphasized the need to create more women entrepreneurs in the state while chairing a high-level review meeting at the Odisha Hub (O-Hub).

The meeting focused on the implementation and progress of various schemes under the District Industries Centres (DICs). Minister Mallik urged officials to work towards bringing more women into the entrepreneurial ecosystem and stressed the importance of improving Odisha’s standing in women-led MSMEs.

The review covered central schemes like PMEGP (Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme), PMFME (Prime Minister’s Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises), and PM Vishwakarma, as well as the Odisha Government’s CM-SHRIM scheme.

Officials discussed the financial and non-financial incentives available under these programs and strategies to enhance their outreach and effectiveness.
