Odisha Launches ‘Odisha Tex 2025’ to Transform State into Textile Powerhouse

Bhubaneswar : In a major push to position Odisha as a leading textile hub in India, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the ‘Odisha Tex 2025’ conference at Lok Seva Bhavan Convention Hall today. The event marked a landmark moment for the state’s industrial growth, drawing participation from over 300 textile and apparel industry leaders from across the country.

As part of the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated six textile and apparel parks, setting the stage for a significant industrial expansion in Odisha. These parks are expected to attract large-scale investments and create thousands of job opportunities for the local population. During the summit, a total of 33 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, amounting to ₹7,808 crore in committed investments and the promise of generating over 53,000 employment opportunities across the state.

In addition to these developments, the Chief Minister announced plans to establish five more textile parks in the near future, further amplifying Odisha’s presence in the national textile market. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to reduce out-migration by creating robust local employment and strengthening the state’s economy through the manufacturing sector.

To foster pride in Odisha-made garments, the Chief Minister appealed to all government employees to wear handloom or locally produced textiles at least once a week and to purchase Odisha-made clothes at least once a year. This appeal is aimed at encouraging local consumption and building a strong domestic market for Odisha’s textile products.

The Chief Minister also declared an increase in incentives for workers employed in the industrial sector. Women employees will now receive a monthly incentive of ₹7,000, up from the earlier ₹6,000, while the incentive for male employees has been increased from ₹5,000 to ₹6,000.

The conference also reviewed the progress of the ‘Odisha Excellence 2025’ initiative. Under this mission, the foundation stones for 48 projects have been laid, and 58 projects are currently under construction. In just the past six months, projects worth ₹1.78 lakh crore have been initiated, with the potential to create over 1.11 lakh new jobs.

The government announced that ‘Odisha Tex’ will now be held annually, serving as a key platform to showcase the state’s textile sector, attract investors, and build stronger business linkages both nationally and internationally.

With these bold moves, Odisha is on track to emerge as a textile powerhouse in India. Through industrial investment, increased employment, and support for local artisans and workers, ‘Odisha Tex 2025’ is set to become a transformative milestone in the state’s economic journey.
