Minister Urges Fast-Tracking of Rural Development Schemes

Bikashita Gaon, PMAY-G, MGNREGS, and clean water projects among top priorities

Odisha Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik conducted a comprehensive review of key rural development schemes, emphasizing accelerated implementation and improved service delivery to transform village infrastructure and livelihoods across the state.

Chairing the high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, Naik called for greater coordination and urgency from field-level administrators, including Chief Development Officers and Executive Officers, to ensure timely and effective execution of priority schemes.

Chairing the session with top officials of the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, Minister Naik stressed expediting implementation of major initiatives such as Bikashita Gaon, Bikashita Odisha,
Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (PMAY-G), and MGNREGS. He called upon Chief Development Officers, Executive Officers, and Group Development Officers to work with urgency and dedication.

Highlighting the Bikashita Gaon initiative as transformative, the Minister noted that it promotes holistic rural development through infrastructure like roads, schools, libraries, play areas, and renovation of village ponds and Bhagabata Tungis.

Progress of clean drinking water supply projects was also reviewed, with the Minister directing timely completion and quality monitoring.

Commissioner-cum-Secretary Girish S. N. presented updates alongside senior officials including Special Project Director Jyoti Prakash Das and Drinking Water Director Vineet Bhardwaj. The review also featured virtual participation from field officers, who were instructed to ensure transparent and effective program delivery.

“The government’s rural agenda hinges on efficient, grassroots-driven execution. Every village must witness visible progress,” said Naik, reiterating his department’s commitment to inclusive growth.
