ESI Hospital Bhubaneswar Launches Super Specialty OPD

New facility offers high-end treatment in seven medical specialties in collaboration with Hi-Tech Medical College, strengthening Odisha’s healthcare for 10 lakh insured beneficiaries
In a major boost to public healthcare services, the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Hospital in Bhubaneswar has inaugurated a Super Specialty Outpatient Department (OPD), aimed at delivering advanced medical treatment to insured employees and their families—completely free of cost.
The new OPD facility was formally launched by Shri Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia, Minister of Labour and Employees’ State Insurance, as part of the government’s mission to enhance health services for the working population. Developed in partnership with Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, Bhubaneswar, the OPD will offer expert consultation and treatment in seven critical disciplines: Urology, Cardiology, Oncology, Neurosurgery, Nephrology, Neurology, and Endocrinology.
This initiative is particularly timely as chronic diseases such as kidney disorders, heart ailments, and neurological issues are on the rise. The Super Specialty OPD is expected to provide timely and quality medical support to thousands of beneficiaries.
The Employees’ State Insurance Scheme, operational in Odisha since 1960, currently serves around 10 lakh insured individuals through a network of four hospitals and 53 dispensaries. To meet the growing healthcare needs, the government has plans to establish five more hospitals in the state.
The launch of the Super Specialty OPD follows a series of healthcare upgrades at the ESI Hospital, including the establishment of a dialysis unit and strategic partnerships with secondary and tertiary care centres to improve service delivery.
By expanding access to specialised healthcare, the government reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the health and welfare of the state’s working class, ensuring no employee or their family has to face financial hardship in accessing critical medical treatment.
