Odisha Brings Adventure Tourism Guidelines to Lure Global Travelers

CM Majhi unveils 2025 guidelines aiming to turn Odisha into India’s top adventure tourism hub
Bhubaneswar: In a move to position Odisha as a premier adventure tourism destination, the state government has finalised the Odisha Adventure Tourism Guidelines-2025. The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Tuesday evening.
Chief Minister Majhi emphasized that the tourism sector in Odisha will evolve under the vision of ‘Think India, Think Odisha’. “We want Odisha to be the first name on tourists’ minds when they plan to visit India,” Majhi said, underlining the state’s alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat-2047 roadmap.
The newly unveiled guidelines focus on identifying, mapping, and developing adventure tourism hotspots across all 30 districts. Key projects include rafting facilities at Satkosia and hot air balloon rides over Hirakud reservoir—destinations poised to offer thrilling experiences to both domestic and international tourists.
Officials revealed that the plan also includes creating job opportunities for local youth through skill development and certification programs in adventure tourism. These will be carried out in partnership with private companies via a dedicated ‘Go Adventure’ portal.
To encourage private investment, the government will extend incentives under the Odisha Tourism Policy-2022, making it easier for businesses to engage in tourism development.
With these initiatives, Odisha aims to transform its natural landscapes into world-class adventure experiences, boosting local employment and enhancing global appeal.
