Odisha Govt Approves Elevated Driveway for Bhubaneswar Railway Station

The Odisha government has given the green light for the construction of an elevated approach and exit road on the Master Canteen side of Bhubaneswar Railway Station. This initiative is a key component of the station’s redevelopment under the Indian Railways’ Amrit Station Scheme, aimed at modernizing passenger amenities and streamlining traffic flow.
As part of the redevelopment, the station will feature an elevated driveway with entry from both sides, ensuring smoother vehicular movement. A state-of-the-art air-concourse will connect all platforms, while dedicated entry and exit points will be introduced to enhance crowd management. Additional passenger-friendly facilities, including lifts, escalators, and a baggage security check-in area, will be incorporated to improve convenience. Travelers will also benefit from an information center, a food plaza, and well-equipped waiting rooms.
The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has been tasked with providing land for the elevated driveway. Alongside this, parking areas and commercial spaces will be developed within the station premises to support growing passenger needs.
This redevelopment aligns with the Odisha government’s broader infrastructure push, which includes a ₹7,000 crore investment in urban mobility projects. Key initiatives under this plan include an elevated corridor from Jayadev Vihar to Nandankanan Zoo to ease congestion, road expansion along Daya West Canal Road from Patia Station Square to Suanga Mouza, and the construction of new flyovers at Kalpana Square, Museum Square, and Sishu Bhawan Square. Additionally, an underpass at AG Square is set to improve traffic flow.
With these projects, Bhubaneswar is poised for a significant transformation, modernizing its transportation network while ensuring a seamless and world-class travel experience for commuters.
