VCL Group to Set Up Manufacturing Unit in Odisha, Boosting State’s Global Investment Appeal

The Luxembourg-based industrial giant plans to expand its India operations with a new unit in Odisha, reflecting the state’s rising status as an FDI hotspot.
Bhubaneswar: Luxembourg-based VCL Group, a global leader in steel, glass, and energy, has announced plans to establish a manufacturing unit in Odisha within the next two to three years. The company inaugurated its Indian corporate office in Bhubaneswar, signaling its commitment to expanding operations in the country.
This development is seen as a significant milestone in Odisha’s foreign direct investment (FDI) journey, highlighting growing international confidence in the state’s industrial ecosystem. Odisha’s rich natural resources, skilled workforce, and progressive industrial policies have made it a natural choice for companies like VCL.
The state government emphasized that its targeted efforts—such as global roadshows, policy reforms, and a business-friendly environment—are attracting global players. Bhubaneswar’s strategic location and robust infrastructure further strengthen its appeal.
Dignitaries including Luxembourg’s Ambassador to India, Peggy Frantzen, and top state officials attended the inauguration. Industry Secretary Hemant Sharma remarked that VCL’s entry would foster innovation, employment, and economic growth.
The development supports Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s vision of “Viksit Odisha by 2036,” as Odisha aims to become an advanced manufacturing and global collaboration hub in eastern India.
