PTC Industries, a leading advanced manufacturing and materials technology company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Odisha to establish an aerospace-grade titanium sponge manufacturing facility in the state.

The initiative will make PTC Industries, along with its subsidiary Aerolloy Technologies, one of the few companies globally with a fully integrated titanium manufacturing value chain. The facility will produce titanium sponge, a critical raw material used in aerospace, defense, and high-performance industrial applications. The company will also manufacture titanium alloy ingots, forged billets, rolled bars, rods, sheets, plates, and precision castings.

Currently, only a handful of countries—including the United States, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Japan—have the capability to produce aerospace-grade titanium sponge. Despite having the third-largest titanium ore reserves, India has long relied on foreign nations for its production, creating a strategic disadvantage for critical defense and aerospace applications.

“This MoU signifies an important step towards strengthening India’s titanium industry. With Odisha’s support and our technological expertise, we aim to build a fully integrated titanium manufacturing ecosystem that caters to the evolving needs of the global aerospace and defense industries,” said Sachin Agarwal, Chairman & Managing Director of PTC Industries.

The Government of Odisha has played a key role in facilitating this investment, offering policy support, infrastructure incentives, and a conducive industrial ecosystem. With this initiative, PTC Industries aims to secure an uninterrupted domestic supply of titanium sponge, reducing India’s dependency on imports and strengthening its position in the global advanced manufacturing sector.
