Odisha Strengthens OPSC, OSSC with New Appointments

In a move to improve transparency and efficiency in state recruitment, the Odisha government has appointed new members to two key recruitment bodies – the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) and the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC).
According to an official notification from the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, Prof. (Dr.) Mihir Prasad Mishra, Principal of S.C.S (Autonomous) College, Puri, has been appointed as a member of OPSC. He will serve a term of six years or until he turns 62, whichever comes first. His appointment follows the rules laid out in the OPSC (Conditions of Service) Regulations, 1952.
Joining him in the OPSC is IAS officer Udaya Narayan Das, who is currently serving as the Director of Census Operations in Odisha. He will also serve under the same terms and conditions as Dr. Mishra.
In a separate move, two new members have been appointed to the OSSC. Retired IAS officer Sudhakar Burgi has been selected as a member of OSSC for a five-year term or until he reaches the age of 65. His salary and service terms will be governed by the OSSC rules of 1995.
Also joining OSSC is Dr. Shruti Das, a former English professor from Berhampur University. She will serve alongside Burgi with the same tenure and conditions, as per the government regulations.
These new appointments are seen as part of the state government’s commitment to improving the recruitment process. By bringing in individuals with academic and administrative expertise, the government aims to ensure that hiring for public service roles is fair, efficient, and based on merit.
Officials believe these experienced professionals will help both commissions function more effectively and uphold the standards of transparency and accountability in the recruitment process.
These changes are expected to benefit job seekers across Odisha, as the commissions play a major role in selecting candidates for various government jobs in the state.
