Odisha Sets ₹2.52 Lakh Cr Credit Goal for FY26

In a decisive step toward advancing inclusive growth, the Odisha government has set an ambitious credit target of ₹2.52 lakh crore for the financial year 2025–26. The announcement was made at the 179th State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting held in Bhubaneswar, with participation from top officials of the RBI, NABARD, and key stakeholders from both the Central and State Governments.
Addressing the gathering, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg emphasized equitable credit distribution, particularly among women, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and economically weaker sections, in alignment with Odisha’s Vision 2036.
Garg also urged banks to actively support the newly introduced Financial Assistance to Cold Storage scheme, covering all 58 sub-divisions of the state. The initiative aims to enhance post-harvest infrastructure, curb crop losses, and safeguard farmers from distress sales.
UCO Bank Executive Director VN Kamble commended the achievement of 100% agricultural loan disbursement targets but expressed concern over underperformance in the MSME sector. He called for immediate measures to bolster lending to small and medium enterprises.
Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, stressed the importance of cold storage financing and agri-entrepreneurship in strengthening the rural economy.
Saswata Mishra, Principal Secretary of the Finance Department, highlighted the role of private banks in key central schemes like PMEGP, PMFME, and PMSVANidhi. He also underscored the urgency of resolving insurance claims under PMJJBY and PMSBY to build beneficiary confidence.
RBI Regional Director Sarada Prasan Mohanty recognized the role of Lead District Managers in addressing grassroots-level MSME grievances through Town Hall meetings.
The SLBC meeting reaffirmed Odisha’s commitment to collaborative governance and financial empowerment, positioning the state as a model for inclusive economic development.
