The Odisha government on Thursday approved investment proposals worth ₹903.41 crore aimed at boosting the renewable energy sector. These approvals are part of the state’s broader goal to achieve a 10 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030.

The Energy Department’s single window committee greenlit several key projects, including a 48 MW wind energy project by HPCL Renewable & Green Energy Limited in Umerkote, Nabarangpur district, and a 49.5 MW wind energy project by ONGC Tripura Power Company Limited in Astaranga, Puri district. The combined investment for these two wind energy projects is ₹881.28 crore.

This move follows the Odisha government’s approval in March 2024 of 22 new projects, with a total investment of ₹4,067 crore. These projects span diverse sectors such as green energy equipment, chemicals, textiles and apparel, metals, food processing, IT infrastructure, among others, indicating a comprehensive approach to industrial development.

The recent approvals underscore Odisha’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint, thereby supporting sustainable development and reducing carbon emissions.
