Odisha Cabinet Approves Key Proposals to Boost Fisheries, Agriculture, Transport and Urban Development
Five departmental plans cleared during 29th Cabinet meeting chaired by CM Mohan Majhi
Bhubaneswar : The Odisha Cabinet held its 29th meeting on October 25, 2025, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the conference hall of Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. The session focused on fast-tracking development initiatives across major sectors, with an emphasis on public welfare, infrastructure improvement, and economic growth.
Following the meeting, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja briefed the media, highlighting the Cabinet’s commitment to timely policy implementation and coordinated departmental efforts. He informed that five key proposals were discussed in detail and received unanimous approval.
The approved proposals were submitted by four major departments — Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Commerce and Transport, and Housing and Urban Development. While the specific details of these proposals were not fully disclosed, the government indicated that they are aimed at strengthening essential infrastructure and service delivery.
From the Fisheries and Animal Resources Department, one proposal was passed to support sustainable fisheries management, enhance productivity and improve livelihood opportunities for fishing communities across the state.
In the agriculture sector, the Cabinet approved a proposal from the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department, signaling continued support for farmers through better resources, improved schemes, and initiatives designed to increase productivity and income.
The Commerce and Transport Department’s proposal, also approved, is expected to contribute to improving transportation efficiency and enhancing connectivity. This aligns with the state’s broader plans to modernise logistics and ensure smoother movement of goods and people.
Two proposals from the Housing and Urban Development Department were sanctioned to support urban infrastructure and housing projects. These initiatives are aimed at improving living standards in urban areas while addressing the growing demand for housing and civic facilities.
Officials stated that the approvals reflect the government’s goal of promoting balanced development across rural and urban sectors. The decisions made in the Cabinet meeting are expected to contribute towards uplifting livelihoods, creating employment opportunities, and expanding critical infrastructure.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi emphasised during the session the importance of inter-departmental cooperation, timely execution of approved projects, and the need to maintain transparency and accountability in implementation.
The Cabinet’s decisions are being seen as a step forward in advancing Odisha’s developmental roadmap.
