Odisha Approves 178 MW of Renewable Energy Projects Worth ₹869.8 Crore

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has taken a significant step toward accelerating its renewable energy ambitions by approving new clean energy projects with a combined capacity of 178 MW and an estimated investment of ₹869.8 crore. These approvals were granted during the 12th meeting of the Single Window Committee (SWC), held on July 24, 2025.
The meeting was chaired by Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary of the Energy Department, and attended by key stakeholders including officials from GRIDCO, OHPC, the Chief Electrical Inspector, and other senior members of the committee. Project proposals were presented by the Chief Project Manager of the Renewable Energy Nodal Agency (RENA) and were thoroughly evaluated before being cleared.
Among the approved projects, a 69.5 MW solar park will be developed by Prozeal Green Energy Limited at Biramaharajpur in Subarnapur district. INOX Solar Limited received clearance for a 49.5 MW solar project at Telkoi in Keonjhar district. Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) also secured approval for a 10 MW solar project at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda. Additionally, NLC India Renewables Limited will set up a wind power project at Papadahandi in Nabarangpur district. These projects include 128.5 MW of solar and 49.5 MW of wind energy capacity.
With the latest additions, the total renewable energy capacity approved by the Single Window Committee has reached 1,844.86 MW, supported by a cumulative investment commitment of ₹12,599.79 crore. This milestone reflects Odisha’s growing momentum in clean energy development and reinforces the state’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
The approved projects are expected to contribute significantly to Odisha’s Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets and India’s broader climate goals. Beyond environmental benefits, they will also promote job creation, infrastructure development, and economic growth in the respective districts.
The Energy Department emphasized its continued focus on supporting green energy investments and ensuring smooth coordination among departments to expedite project clearances. The State Government also reaffirmed its intention to create a business-friendly ecosystem in the renewable energy sector, attracting both domestic and international investors.
As Odisha steadily builds its green energy portfolio, it aims to become a leading state in India’s renewable energy journey—balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility.
