New Task Force to Speed Up Industrial Growth in Odisha

The Odisha government has formed a 17-member task force to boost industrial development in the state. Led by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, this high-level group will work to turn investment proposals into real industrial projects. The team will help investors from the beginning of a proposal until the factory becomes fully functional.
A major responsibility of the task force is to solve problems that delay projects, especially land acquisition and approvals. Officials from different departments are part of the team, so they can work together smoothly and make quick decisions. The goal is to speed up work and remove hurdles that slow down progress.
The task force will also regularly review key projects under the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) and the Pragati Abhiyan. This will help ensure that important projects stay on track and are completed without delays.
Recently, Odisha received investment proposals worth about ₹17 lakh crore during the Make in Odisha conclave held in January. Another ₹1.03 lakh crore worth of proposals came in during an Investors’ Summit held in New Delhi. To handle these investments properly, the government is using a single-window clearance system and the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA), which approves new projects regularly.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has made it clear that he wants to build a developed Odisha by 2026. He has said that industries should be set up in every district, which would create more jobs and boost local economies.
Traditionally, Odisha has attracted investments in minerals and metals. But now the state is also focusing on new areas like chemicals, petrochemicals, plastics, food processing, IT, semiconductors, and renewable energy. One of the main goals is to make Odisha a major center for petrochemical industries.
To support these efforts, the state is also building industrial corridors in different regions. These corridors will provide better infrastructure and help industries grow faster.
The new task force is expected to play a key role in making these plans successful. With better coordination and faster action, the state hopes to turn investment promises into real industries that help the people and the economy of Odisha.
