Jio Strengthens Market Leadership in Odisha with Record Subscriber Growth

Adds 1.96 lakh new users in September, expanding 4G and 5G dominance across the state

Bhubaneswar: Reliance Jio has reinforced its position as the most preferred digital service provider in Odisha, achieving yet another milestone in subscriber growth and network expansion. According to the latest telecom subscription data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio added over 1.96 lakh new mobile users in the state in September 2025 — far outpacing all competitors and cementing its dominance in the Odisha telecom market.

Jio’s growth dwarfed that of its rivals, with Vodafone Idea (VI) managing to add only 7,980 new users, while both Airtel and BSNL suffered heavy subscriber losses during the same period. The addition of nearly two lakh new users by Jio alone accounted for the state’s entire net subscriber increase for the month, underscoring the brand’s unmatched consumer trust and network reliability. With this latest surge, Jio’s total mobile subscriber base in Odisha has crossed 1.67 crore, translating to a commanding 46.8% market share.

Telecom analysts attribute Jio’s success to its extensive network reach, superior all-IP 4G and True 5G technology, and strategic initiatives to connect even the most remote areas of Odisha. The company’s rollout of affordable devices such as the JioBharat 4G phone has been instrumental in helping thousands of rural consumers transition from 2G to 4G, bridging the digital divide across the state’s hinterlands.

“Jio’s dominance in Odisha reflects how consistent investment in technology and accessibility can transform connectivity for both urban and rural users. The company’s 5G rollout has reached every district, ensuring faster data speeds and seamless digital access even in remote villages,” said a Bhubaneswar-based telecom expert.

As per TRAI data, Odisha’s total mobile subscriber base grew by around 1.88 lakh in September, surpassing 3.58 crore users as of September 30, 2025. This growth was almost entirely driven by Jio’s subscriber additions, demonstrating the company’s pivotal role in the state’s digital ecosystem.

At the national level, Reliance Jio continued to lead India’s telecom industry, adding more than 32.49 lakh new mobile subscribers in September — strengthening its position as the country’s largest and fastest-growing digital service provider.

Beyond mobile services, Jio has also maintained its leadership in home broadband and fixed wireless access (FWA) segments in Odisha. The company now connects more than 6 lakh home broadband subscribers across the state, powered by its popular JioFiber and JioAirFiber offerings. According to the latest figures, Jio serves over 3.38 lakh JioFiber users, 2.43 lakh 5G FWA customers, and around 31,000 UBR FWA subscribers in Odisha as of September 2025.

These services have enabled households, small businesses, and educational institutions to access high-speed internet, transforming how Odias work, learn, and connect. The expansion of JioAirFiber, in particular, has helped extend broadband connectivity to regions where traditional fiber infrastructure is limited, further strengthening the state’s digital inclusion efforts.

Industry observers note that Jio’s continuous investments in Odisha’s digital infrastructure — including 5G rollout, affordable device launches, and rural connectivity drives — have made it a key enabler of the state’s digital economy. “From improving access to e-governance and online education to boosting small business operations, Jio’s network expansion is driving inclusive growth across Odisha,” said an industry analyst.

With nearly half of Odisha’s mobile users now on its network, Reliance Jio’s continued focus on innovation and affordability positions it to lead the state’s digital transformation journey in the years ahead.
