Governor Urges Real Estate Developers to Invest in Smaller Cities

Emphasis on Affordable Housing, Green Growth, and Digital Infrastructure at CREDAI EGM 2025 in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati has called upon real estate developers to expand their investment focus beyond major urban centers and explore opportunities in smaller towns to achieve balanced urbanization in the state. Addressing the CREDAI Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) 2025 held in Bhubaneswar after nearly a decade, the Governor emphasized the need for affordable housing, sustainable development, and digital infrastructure in the real estate sector.
Highlighting the importance of ethical business practices and customer-centric approaches, Dr. Kambhampati advised developers to build trust and transparency to foster long-term growth in the industry. He encouraged developers to take proactive roles in shaping the urban future of Odisha through inclusive and sustainable real estate projects.
During the event, Ekamra MLA Babu Singh described real estate developers as the “nation builders,” acknowledging their critical role in infrastructure and economic development. CREDAI National President Shekhar G. Patel expressed optimism, stating that Bhubaneswar will soon rank among India’s top 50 real estate markets. He also noted that following the implementation of RERA, 95% of the real estate market has become more organized.
Incoming National President G. Ram Reddy spoke about CREDAI’s policy advocacy efforts and its contribution to industrial growth and regulatory reforms in the sector. He highlighted how developer associations can serve as effective platforms for guiding state-level policy and ensuring industry best practices.
In a significant announcement, Subdesh Kumar Rautray was named the new Vice President of CREDAI’s Eastern Region during the meeting. The session was inaugurated with a welcome address by CREDAI Bhubaneswar President Sophia Firdose and concluded with a vote of thanks from Secretary Anil Agrawal.
Other notable attendees included National Secretary Gaurav Gupta, National Member Shantilal Kataria, former National President Shekhar Reddy, and Shankar Reddy, among others.
This high-profile meeting underscored the growing importance of Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities in the future landscape of India’s real estate industry and CREDAI’s role in guiding that transformation.
