CM Majhi Unveils Roadmap for Rapid Economic Growth at ‘Samruddha Odisha 2036 Conclave’
Odisha targets USD 500 billion economy; major industrial, infrastructure push announced
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the ‘Samruddha Odisha 2036 Conclave’ organised by the Utkal Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UCCIL) in Bhubaneswar on November 25, 2025, outlining an ambitious growth vision for the state over the next decade.
During his address, Majhi declared that a “true industrial revolution” has begun in Odisha—one he believes will transform the state’s direction and destiny. Highlighting Odisha’s current economic size of USD 120 billion, he projected that the state will reach USD 500 billion by 2036. To achieve this fivefold expansion, he emphasised the need to intensify efforts across infrastructure development, industrialisation and skill enhancement.
The Chief Minister stated that the government has so far invested ₹2 lakh crore, laid the foundation for 84 industries, and created more than 1.64 lakh jobs. He noted significant upcoming investments from industry majors such as Vedanta, Adani, JSW, Indian Oil and the Zoho Group. New opportunities in textiles and green energy, he said, are expected to further accelerate Odisha’s growth momentum.
Majhi also underlined the expanding infrastructure footprint, crediting both central and state governments for strengthening connectivity through roads, railways, ports and airports. Industry associations like UCCIL, he added, have been crucial partners in driving industrial development.
Announcing his vision for the capital region, the Chief Minister said Bhubaneswar will be developed into a major tech hub for eastern India. Fintech, insurtech, IT giants and two semiconductor industries already operate in the city, creating the foundation for rapid expansion. He also referred to the Capital Region Ring Road project, which will further integrate and expand the Cuttack–Bhubaneswar urban corridor.
Speaking at the event, Industry and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain remarked that Odisha has “emerged as a state of immense promise within a year,” attributing the progress to the Chief Minister’s proactive initiatives. He noted that youth employment and industrial growth are the twin pillars of this transformation.
On the occasion, CM Majhi unveiled the ‘Samruddha Odisha 2036’ souvenir prepared by UCCIL. The conclave witnessed participation from Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, UCCIL President Dr. Prabodh Mohanty, Conclave Chairman Dr. Brahma Mishra, Dand RDO DG Dr. B.K. Das and several leading industrialists.
