Odisha Cabinet Clears ₹10,000-Crore Supplementary Budget
Key amendments to recruitment rules approved ahead of Winter Assembly Session
Bhubaneswar: In a significant prelude to the upcoming Winter Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, the state Cabinet led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi approved three major proposals, including a supplementary budget of around ₹10,000 crore for the financial year 2025–26. The meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhawan and marked an important step in finalizing fiscal priorities before the session begins.
The Winter Session is set to commence on November 27, during which Chief Minister Majhi, who also serves as the Finance Minister, will present the supplementary budget to the Assembly on November 28. Officials indicated that the supplementary outlay is aimed at accelerating ongoing developmental initiatives and meeting emerging financial requirements across key sectors.
Alongside budgetary clearance, the Cabinet also approved amendments to the Combined Graduate Level Recruitment Examination for Group-B and Group-C Specialist Posts and Services Rules, 2022. The revised framework is expected to streamline the recruitment process, enhance transparency, and align the examination procedures with evolving administrative needs.
Earlier in the evening, the Council of Ministers held detailed discussions on the supplementary budget, reviewing expenditure priorities, resource allocations, and sector-specific demands. The approval reflects the state government’s intent to bolster development momentum while ensuring adequate financial provisioning ahead of the new fiscal year.
The decisions come at a crucial time as the Majhi-led government prepares for its first full Winter Session, where debates on policy issues, budget provisions, and governance priorities are expected to take centre stage.
