Odisha CM Highlights Multiple Welfare Schemes on Nuakhai

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that the CM Kisan Yojana has increased the annual income of registered farmers by at least ₹38,000. Combined with ₹10,000 each from the Subhadra Yojana and PM-CM Kisan Yojanas, farmers’ annual income has risen by at least ₹58,000. He noted that since most Subhadra Yojana beneficiaries belong to farming families, the government’s initiatives reflect a strong commitment to their welfare.

The Chief Minister was addressing a state-level event marking Nuakhai, organised by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment at Krushi Shiksha Sadan, OUAT, Bhubaneswar. On the occasion, Majhi disbursed the third installment of the CM Kisan Yojana for the Rabi season 2025–26, amounting to ₹1,041.29 crore, directly into the bank accounts of 51,54,115 small and marginal farmers, landless families, ST communities, and urban farmers through DBT.

Majhi also inaugurated a newly built ‘Krushak Bhawan’ and a Reception Centre at Krushi Shiksha Sadan, constructed at a cost of nearly ₹59 crore. He further announced that the government will soon extend the farmer registration period under the scheme to ensure wider coverage.

Highlighting his government’s priorities, Majhi recalled that the first Cabinet meeting after assuming office approved the Samruddha Krushak Yojana, which ensured farmers received ₹3,100 per quintal of paddy. Under this scheme, a record 92.63 lakh metric tonnes of paddy were procured. Over 18 lakh farmers have registered under the Krushak Samruddhi Yojana this year, with the CM assuring that no eligible farmer would be left out.

He also emphasized the support given to landless farmers, who receive ₹12,500 in three installments for allied activities such as goat rearing, poultry farming, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, and dairy.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of crop diversification, crop insurance under PMFBY, and potato cultivation to make Odisha self-reliant. He highlighted upcoming initiatives for cold storage development, agri-entrepreneurship, and scholarships under the Krushi Vidyadhan Yojana, which last year disbursed ₹53.69 crore to more than 13,900 students from CM Kisan beneficiary families pursuing higher education in reputed institutions.

The program witnessed the participation of over 600 farmers from across Odisha and 200 OUAT students. It was livestreamed across all 30 districts, where district-level events were held with the presence of ministers, MPs, MLAs, district collectors, and senior officials from the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department.

Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik, Bhubaneswar (Ekamra) MLA Babu Singh, and OUAT Vice-Chancellor Dr. Pravat Kumar Roul were among the dignitaries present. Principal Secretary of the department, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, delivered the welcome address, while Director of Agriculture and Food Production, Shubham Saxena, proposed the vote of thanks.

Through these initiatives, the Odisha government reaffirmed its commitment to farmer welfare and agricultural growth, aiming to ensure better income security, modern farming support, and sustainable rural development.
